  1. Meeting called to order by vice chair, Catherine Wilson at 7:00 pm at the CNN Office in the Bob Ueland Community Room, 4415 NE 87th Ave, Portland, OR

 

  • Roll call and Call to Order. Members present:  Barbara Strunk, Alison Stoll, Marilee Dea, Ken Peterson, Ron Laster, Ruth Hander, David Gates, Sara Simon-Behmes, Karen McAninch, Yvonne Rice, Annette Pronk.  Excused:  Jo Schaefer, Doug Fasching, Neil Chodorow, Lisa Larson.  Guests:  Joana Kirchhoff,

 

  1. Additions To/Approval of Agenda:  motion moved to accept agenda by Ron Laster; seconded by Marilee Dea, MSP.

 

  1. Approval of Minutes of Previous Meeting: motion moved to accept the previous minutes as amended by Ron Laster; seconded by Marilee Dea, MSP.

 

  1. Treasurers Report, Karen McAninch: under budget by $230.71.  Motion moved to accept by Ron Laster; seconded by Marilee Dea; MSP. 

 

  1. Nominating Committee Report/Board Officer Election, Lisa Larson: in the absence of Lisa Larson, Alison Stoll gave the update from nominating committee regarding procedures.  Board voted:  Doug Fasching was re-elected Chair and Karen McAninch was elected treasurer.

 

  1. Nonaffiliated Organization Outreach Committee Report, Ron Laster, Jo Schaefer, David Gates, Marilee Dea: conduct round table discussion at next board meeting to talk about creating a handout and how to present ourselves to unaffiliated organizations and how we can offer help to others while fulfilling Civic Life contract objectives.

 

  1. Community Livability Committee NHN, Jo Schaefer, Catherine Wilson, Karen McAninch, Yvonne Rice: next outreach to homeless March 23, 2019.

 

  1. Hot Topics! Neighborhoods, Other Comm & Staff:

 

Sumner, Karen McAninch:  election of officers at next meeting, March 19, 2019, guest speaker, Jonathan Lewis to discuss homeless.

 

Beaumont-Wilshire, Barbara Strunk:  election of officers at next meeting on April 2, 2010 at Beaumont Middle School and Taste of Beaumont.

 

Madison South, Ruth Hander:  next meeting April 2019, no Music in The Park this year, annual cleanup September 14, 2019 at Glenhaven Park, two-year renovation of Madison High School to start after this school year.

 

Grant Park, Ken Peterson & Ron Laster:  elections will be held for all positions at meeting on April 16, 2019, annual clean up May 18, 2019.

Cully, Marilee Dea:  elections to be held next month, current chair Laura Young stepping down.

 

Rose City Park, David Gates:  no general meeting since our last meeting, helping neighbors with air quality.

 

Roseway, Sara Simon-Behmes:  talked about re-development of playground equipment at Glenhaven Park and survey asking neighbors input of suggested pathway in middle of park blocks on 72nd. 

 

  1. Discussion of grant contract with Civic Life, Alison Stoll: our contract with Civic Life ends June 30, 2020 and then the contracts will probably become competetive, explained non-profit rules and requirements for our insurance, next PSAC meetings April 11, 2019 and October 10, 2019 that will be held at CNN office, discussion of grant contract carried over to next meeting.  Asian-American Society event New Years in the Park to be held April 27, 2019 at Glenhaven Park.  Looking forward to 6 NA cleanups information will be emailed.

 

  1. New Business: Support pending legislation to tighten loopholes in Oregon auto theft law.   Ken Peterson gave background on current House Bill 2328, asking for support from CNN board.  Motion moved to have CNN board write a letter of support for House Bill 2328 to Senator Michael Dembrox by Ron Laster; seconded by Marilee Dea, MSP.
